A three-day academic programme organised by ITQAN Foundation and the University of Manouba brought together researchers, educators and practitioners from Morocco and Tunisia to exchange knowledge on multilingualism, linguistic diversity, heritage languages, Amazigh language research, language acquisition and interculturality.

The programme featured contributions from several members of the LocalLing community. Oumaima Elghazali (ITQAN Foundation) led interactive workshops on North African identities and interculturality, while Nadia Bouchhioua (University of Manouba) presented her research on cross-linguistic influence in English pronunciation and the documentation of the endangered Shilha Berber variety in Tunisia. Yassine Boussagui (ITQAN Foundation) shared his work on language attitudes, ideologies and fieldwork in Amazigh language research and Yamina El Kirat El Allame (ITQAN Foundation) explored the realities of conducting community-based Amazigh language research.

Beyond showcasing current research, the programme fostered dialogue on language documentation, multilingualism, and cultural heritage while strengthening academic collaboration between Moroccan and Tunisian institutions. By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, the event reinforced LocalLing’s commitment to supporting international cooperation and advancing research on linguistic diversity and heritage language preservation.
